Submission Rules

Abstract submission is permitted until February 18th.

For each submission, regardless of category, an abstract must be submitted. Submissions must be original, describing concluded original work and towards which all mentioned authors contributed relevantly. Abstracts of undergoing studies, with data collection or analysis incomplete, will not be accepted.

Each abstract must point out whether it has been published or accepted for publication in any other previous national or international event, in which case authors shall procure the necessary copyrights for publishing in the Symposium’s abstract book, if needed.

It is the authors’ responsibility to decide what to include in the abstract. Number of authors must be under seven and at least one must be enrolled in the symposium. Each author can present a maximum of two abstracts. The Symposium’s languages are Portuguese and English.

Authors will be informed of abstract acceptance via e-mail until 12^th March, to the corresponding address indicated. The presenting author should enrol until the 20^th March and be available at the assigned schedule.

 Accepted abstracts will be published in a e-book format. Certificates will be presented to all authors.

Categories of presentations and abstract requirements

Presentations will be made orally or through e-posters.

• Oral communications – 8 minutes for presentation and 2 for discussion (10 minutes total). Final presentation must be submitted by 31^st March 2016, in powerpoint format (.pptx) via e-mail. Other formats will not be guaranteed by the organization of the symposium.
• E-posters – will be available during specific times, at which point authors should be beside their poster. Final version must be submitted by 31^st March 2016 in pdf format, via e-mail. For better visualization, 1024x768 resolution is recommended, one page, horizontally (landscape format) with Times New Roman font, size 14

Final decision on category will be made by the Scientific Commission.

Abstracts should be written in Times New Roman font, size 12, with spacing between lines of 1,5, in either of the official languages (Portuguese or English) and must be submitted through the symposium’s official platform, as follows:

4. Abstract text – 250 words maximum, with the following structure:

Background – the need and relevance of the study

Objectives of the study

Material and methods – sampling, data collection and analysis and used instruments

Results – main results of the study

Conclusion – main conclusions of the study

 Key words – between 3 and 5 (MESH terms)

Abstracts will be grouped by theme. Please mark the appropriate field for your abstract. Areas are: Health Education, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Gerontology, Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy, Health Information Systems, Health Sociology.

Abstracts that do not conform to these guidelines will be rejected.
